Norse God Fenrir

Continuing my journey with the powerful Norse wolf, Fenrir, I often reflect on the depth of his story and what it means to honor such a complex deity. For those new to Norse paganism or looking to deepen their connection, understanding Fenrir's lineage is fascinating. He is, of course, the son of Loki and the giantess Angrboda, making him a central figure in the prophecies of Ragnarök. This background often colors how we approach him, seeing him not just as a destructive force, but also a symbol of untamed power and destiny. This duality is what draws many of us to him, acknowledging the wild, untamed forces within ourselves and the world. When it comes to Fenrir offerings, there's a lot of personal interpretation, but generally, things that represent strength, protection, or even wildness are often appreciated. I've found that offerings like raw meat, strong ale, or even symbolic items like wolf teeth or imagery work well. It's less about the monetary value and more about the intention and respect behind the offering. For those exploring runic connections, there isn't one specific 'rune for Fenrir' in the same way there might be for a more anthropomorphic deity, but certain runes can be used to evoke his qualities and energy. For instance, Uruz, representing primal strength, wildness, and untamed potential, or Isa, signifying stasis, binding, and the ability to hold power, could be meditated upon when working with his energy. Even Raidho, representing journeys and cycles, can be relevant when considering Fenrir's fated role. It's all about finding what resonates with you personally and how you wish to engage with this magnificent Norse god. Creating items like this pendant isn't just art for me; it's a personal ritual, a way to connect and pay homage to deities that inspire and guide us through life's challenges.
