When planning my visit to Git Teul in Seoul's Mapo-gu district, I was eager to compare the beloved pork collar with the more common pork belly, as these are two staples often debated among Korean BBQ enthusiasts. The pork collar here stood out thanks to its marbling and tenderness—it’s incredibly juicy and almost melts in your mouth, making it my top recommendation over pork belly at this restaurant. Beyond the meats, the side dishes, especially the banchan and the intriguing raw baby octopus, added exciting textures and flavors that complemented the BBQ perfectly. The soybean soup and steamed egg served alongside provided comforting balance, enhancing the overall meal. Service was another highlight; the server not only grilled the meat expertly but also shared the best combinations of spices and veggies to enjoy with each bite. This personal touch elevated the dining experience from good to exceptional. For those heading to Hongdae or exploring Seoul, Git Teul offers a memorable Korean BBQ experience with authentic flavors and a welcoming atmosphere. Don’t miss trying both pork collar and pork belly to decide which you prefer, though my experience leans heavily towards the pork collar as the star of the meal.
