Highlights from my surprise visit to see my family 💕
I had such a wonderful time visiting with my family! It’s so hard living far away from them, but it definitely makes me appreciate my family even more. I can’t wait to see them again!

Visiting family after a long time apart always brings a mix of emotions—excitement, nostalgia, and sometimes a bittersweet feeling of missing them while away. During my recent trip to North Carolina, I was reminded just how valuable such moments are. One of my favorite parts was catching up over breakfast at First Watch, a cozy spot that reminded me of home and comfort food shared with loved ones. There’s something genuinely special about spending quality time with siblings and seeing next generations grow up, like my beautiful sister and her sweet baby. Capturing those candid expressions, like my nephew’s playful side-eyes, makes the visit even more memorable. Wearing a shirt my sister made for me—proudly proclaiming “Dog Mom +”—felt like a warm embrace, a small but meaningful reminder of our bond. These experiences make the distance between us feel smaller until the next visit. I encourage anyone living away from their families to make time for surprise visits or planned reunions—it recharges your spirit and strengthens family ties in ways you don’t realize until you’re actually there. Also, discovering local favorites like First Watch together adds a fun, personal touch to reunions. Family time is an irreplaceable treasure, one that’s worth cherishing and prioritizing no matter the distance.
