Trying on Belly's dresses 🤍 from TSITP
There are so many cute dresses I saw in The Summer I Turned Pretty season three that I saw on Belly! I wanted to see if I could find similar ones for an upcoming beach trip so I had to make a run to the Free People section at Nordstrom over lunch this week. All of them are giving Cousins Beach, coastal granddaughter and SUMMER!
The first dress is super sweet! I like that it has an adjustable back so you can tie it where it fits best on you. They did not have any smalls in this and I do feel like I could've done a small versus this medium that I'm wearing. However, I think the details on it are really cool! This is $88!
Next is this really pretty eyelet dress with ribbon detailing on the straps! This is by far the slowest and the most lightweight of all four dresses. I really like the subtle pop of pink on the shoulders! It's super girly and feminine. I am a size medium, and again. I probably could've done a small because the area in the chest was quite large. This was $98.
I really wanted to love this gingham baby doll dress because it really does scream TSITP but this missed the mark for me. It was not flattering at all. I think maybe an extra small would've looked better than the size small on me! I'm all for a flow baby doll dress moment, but this felt more like a potato sack. This was $88.
Lastly, I fell in love with the bodice of this dress! It was super flattering with the dropped waste detailing. I also love the colors and the pattern of this! I am in a size small and it fit great. This can also be worn strapless as the straps are removable! This is $128.

Wow, totally loved trying on those Free People dresses for my beach trip! It really got me thinking about how much I adore Belly's style in 'The Summer I Turned Pretty.' If you're like me and constantly searching for that perfect TSITP outfit or Belly dress, you know it's all about capturing that effortless, summery vibe. It's more than just clothes; it's a feeling of long summer days, salty air, and beachside adventures. So, what exactly defines Belly's iconic look? She perfectly blends coastal granddaughter chic with a touch of youthful exuberance. Think comfortable yet cute, often a mix of classic preppy elements and relaxed beachwear. Her wardrobe is full of versatile pieces that can go from a casual day at Cousins Beach to a slightly dressier evening out. When hunting for Belly's dresses, there are a few key styles to keep an eye out for. We saw some great examples in my try-on, like that lovely white eyelet dress with its delicate details – super feminine and perfect for summer. Another staple is the gingham dress. While my blue gingham baby doll dress didn't quite work out, a well-fitting one can totally scream 'TSITP'! Look for playful patterns and comfortable cuts. Don't forget the flowy maxi dress! Belly often sports these, especially ones with floral patterns or blue and white stripes, sometimes with a comfy smocked bodice or a romantic tiered skirt. These are absolute essentials for that breezy, summer vibe. And for something a little shorter, a white mini dress with details like a ribbed bodice or lace details and spaghetti straps can be incredibly flattering and capture her fresh aesthetic. That white mini dress I tried with the dropped waist was a definite winner for channeling that youthful, carefree look! It's not just about the dresses, though! To truly embody Belly's style, think about the accessories. Simple gold jewelry, like delicate necklaces or hoop earrings, adds a touch of sophistication without overdoing it. For shoes, espadrille wedges, classic white sneakers, or simple flat sandals are perfect. And for bags, a woven straw tote for the beach or a small crossbody for evenings completes the TSITP outfit. Beyond dresses, Belly's wardrobe is also full of cute shorts, tank tops, and swimsuits. High-waisted denim shorts paired with a simple pastel tank or a flowy white blouse are classic. When it comes to swimwear, she often opts for classic one-pieces or simple two-piece sets in solid colors or subtle patterns. If you're looking to build your own Belly from The Summer I Turned Pretty outfits collection, don't limit yourself to just one store. While places like Nordstrom and Free People (as seen in my haul!) are great, you can find similar styles at boutiques, online retailers, or even second-hand shops. Focus on natural fabrics like cotton and linen, light colors, and comfortable silhouettes. The goal is to feel relaxed, confident, and ready for whatever summer throws your way!
