Deep clean my freezer with me:) part 1
My, my this freezer was a disaster!! This will potentially be three parts due to lemons video length. I’ve been wanting to clean it but, as mentioned, the scraping tool the fridge came with was not effective enough. Don’t mind my little brother in the background 😭🤣 #cleaningmadeeasy #deepcleaning #icebreaker #foryou #satisfying
Freezer cleaning is often overlooked but is essential for maintaining both food quality and appliance efficiency. When frost or ice builds up, it reduces storage space and forces the freezer to work harder, increasing energy consumption. In a deep freezer clean, it's important to fully defrost the freezer, ideally by unplugging it and allowing the ice to melt naturally or using gentle tools to scrape off ice without damaging surfaces. Using the scraping tool that comes with your fridge can sometimes be ineffective, as was the case here. Alternative tools like plastic spatulas or commercial defrosters can be effective and safer. To speed up the defrosting process, placing a bowl of hot water inside the freezer and closing the door can help loosen the ice. Once defrosted, wipe down all surfaces thoroughly with a baking soda and water solution to eliminate odors and sanitize. Avoid harsh chemicals that can leave behind residues or damage the freezer interior. Organization after cleaning is key. Utilizing bins or clear containers can keep items sorted and accessible, minimizing the buildup of ice caused by excessive door openings or overcrowding. Regular maintenance—cleaning every 3 to 6 months—helps prevent deep ice buildup and keeps your freezer running smoothly. Also, check door seals frequently to ensure they are airtight, which prevents moisture from entering and forming ice. Lastly, sharing this cleaning journey not only provides motivation and satisfaction but also encourages others to tackle their own freezer messes in an easy, manageable way.
