... Read moreOMG, you guys! I'm so excited to share how I made this adorable DIY dry flower hanging lamp, perfect for adding a cozy spring vibe to any room. You know how much I love finding ways to upcycle and create beautiful home decor without breaking the bank, and this project totally fits the bill! What you'll need: An empty pickle jar (or any clear glass jar – mason jars work great too!) A small assortment of dried flowers (roses, lavender, baby's breath, hydrangeas are some of my faves!) A small battery-operated puck light or fairy lights Twine or decorative ribbon for hanging Hot glue gun (optional, but helpful for securing) My Easy Steps to a Blooming Lamp: Prep Your Jar: First things first, make sure your pickle jar is super clean and dry. I usually run mine through the dishwasher and then let it air dry completely. The clearer the glass, the better your flowers will shine! Gather Your Dried Blooms: This is where the magic happens! If you don't have dried flowers on hand, it's super easy to make your own. I often hang fresh flowers upside down in a dark, dry place for a couple of weeks. For this project, I used a mix of dried roses and some delicate baby's breath – they just look so romantic when lit up. You could also buy pre-dried flowers from craft stores. Think about color schemes that match your room! Arrange Your Flowers: Carefully place your dried flowers inside the jar. Play around with the arrangement until you get a look you love. I like to have some taller stems and some shorter ones to create depth. You can push them gently to the sides of the jar. For a wall decor flower light, I sometimes try to position them flatter against one side. Add the Light Source: Now for the "light" part of your flower light! I used a small battery-operated puck light that fits perfectly inside the lid of the jar. If your puck light doesn't stick, a dab of hot glue can secure it to the inside of the lid. Alternatively, you can use a string of tiny fairy lights; just coil them gently inside the jar with the flowers, making sure the battery pack is accessible outside or hidden. This instantly transforms it into a homemade study lamp alternative or a dreamy bedside glow. Secure and Hang: Screw the lid back onto your jar. If you're making a hanging lamp, wrap some strong twine or decorative rope around the neck of the jar a few times, securing it with a knot. Make sure it's sturdy! Then, find the perfect spot to hang your beautiful creation. I hung mine by my window, and it looks absolutely enchanting, especially in the evening. Beyond the Jar: More Dried Flower Ideas! Crafting with dried flowers opens up a world of possibilities! Besides mason jar lamp DIYs, I also love using them for: Potpourri: Mix dried petals with essential oils for a lovely scent. Resin Art: Embed them in resin to make coasters, jewelry, or paperweights. Greeting Cards: Press them flat and glue them onto handmade cards for a personal touch. Wreaths: Create stunning dried flower wreaths for your door. What to do with dried roses for decoration? They are perfect for all of the above, and also look amazing simply arranged in a small vase or scattered on a tabletop as part of a centerpiece. This blooming flower lamp (even though it's dried flowers, it still feels like it's blooming with light!) project is so rewarding. It’s a fantastic way to bring a bit of nature indoors and add a unique, personal touch to your home decor. Give it a try this spring!
