I spent ages researching different breeds, looking for a dog that would fit perfectly into my life – playful, intelligent, and small enough for apartment living. Toy poodles checked all the boxes! Their friendly nature and eagerness to learn really stood out, and I knew Cleo would be the perfect companion.
Life with Cleo is never dull. She has so much personality packed into that tiny, fluffy body! One minute she's cuddled up beside me on the couch, looking absolutely adorable in her pink and black leopard print sweater (it's her favorite, honestly!), and the next she's zooming around, chasing her favorite squeaky toy. We're still in the early stages of training, but she's incredibly smart and picks things up so quickly. It’s amazing to see her learn new tricks, and she definitely responds well to positive reinforcement – especially treats!
Now, about my wild idea of dyeing her ears, paws, and tail pink! I know it sounds a bit out there, but I’ve been researching pet-safe dyes extensively. It’s important to me that whatever I do, it’s completely non-toxic and won’t harm her delicate skin or fur. I'm imagining a subtle pop of color that really highlights her playful spirit. I’ve seen some amazing examples online, and I think a touch of pink would make her even more unique. Plus, imagine the adorable photos with little hearts and paw prints! I’m even thinking of getting her a tiny collar charm shaped like a daisy to complete the look.
Beyond the fun styling, keeping Cleo healthy and happy is my top priority. Toy poodles need regular grooming to prevent matting, so I'm learning to brush her coat daily. Professional grooming every few weeks is also a must to keep her looking pristine. We also go on short, frequent walks to burn off some of her energy, and playtime at home is essential. Finding toys that challenge her mind, like puzzle feeders, has been great for keeping her engaged.
I’m so excited to share more of our adventures here. Cleo has already brought so much laughter and love into my home. Every day is a new discovery with her, and I can't wait to see what other adorable outfits and fun activities we'll get into. I’m thinking themed photoshoots with props like bones and smiley faces could be next! If you have any tips for toy poodle parents or experience with pet-safe dyes, I'd love to hear them!
