Woke up this morning feeling truly blessed to be living in an answered prayer.
Earlier this year when my fiancé started his truck driving career I was forced into an isolation season, and in that season I was able to focus on what I love doing most. Journaling and arts & crafts.🎨 ✍🏾 🧶💕
The good that came out of that situation was being able to write a few books including my debut children’s book Artsy Aubry, a story of a 7 year old girl who unleashes her inner creativity by using her imagination.
I am beyond blessed and excited that this project is almost complete and I am ready to see what God has in store for me in 2025.
Artsy Aubry will be available spring 2025 🌸🌼🩷🎨🩷🌸🌼
And special thanks to the illustrations Gernalin Rai ! She did an amazing job on the cover page !! Thanks girl 🥰💕😭

... Read moreHey everyone! Reading about this debut children's book, "Artsy Aubry," truly resonated with me, especially the author's journey of finding creativity during an unexpected "isolation season." It's amazing how sometimes, when life simplifies, our true passions can emerge. For many, including myself, the idea of writing a children's book has always been a dream, but the path can seem daunting.
If you're like me and have ever dreamed of becoming a children's author, let me share a bit about what I've learned on this exciting journey. It often starts with a spark – a character idea, a unique setting, or a message you're passionate about sharing with young minds. Just like "Artsy Aubry" focuses on a 7-year-old unleashing her imagination, many successful children's stories tap into universal themes that resonate with kids: friendship, courage, discovery, or the power of being yourself. Thinking about the captivating cover with its colorful drawings of a giraffe, a wise old tree, a playful mermaid, and even an adventurous astronaut, it reminds me how a single illustration can convey so much about a child's vibrant inner world.
Once you have that initial idea, the real fun (and hard work!) begins. Crafting a compelling narrative for children requires a special touch. You need to think about age-appropriate language, engaging plotlines, and characters that children can easily relate to. It's about seeing the world through their eyes, understanding what makes them laugh, wonder, or feel. Short, punchy sentences and a clear, hopeful message often work best.
Finding an illustrator is another crucial step, and often, one of the most exciting. The visual appeal of a children's book is just as important as the story itself. The illustrations are what often draw a child in, making them want to pick up "a book" again and again, even before they can read the words. A good illustrator can bring your characters and world to life in ways you might not have even imagined, creating a magical experience for young readers. They translate your words into enchanting visuals that capture the imagination.
The journey to publication, whether self-published or traditionally, is often a marathon, not a sprint. It involves countless revisions, seeking feedback from critique partners, and understanding the market for children's literature. You'll learn about things like trim size, binding, and how to effectively market your "book" to parents and educators. It's a steep learning curve, but every step brings you closer to your goal. But the reward of holding your finished "book" in your hands, knowing it might inspire a child to dream bigger or embrace their own unique creativity, is truly unparalleled. It’s a testament to dedication and passion. So, if you're feeling inspired by stories like "Artsy Aubry," don't let those creative sparks fade. Keep journaling, keep dreaming, and perhaps your debut children's book is just around the corner! Never underestimate the power of a good story to change a child's world.
