People are so shitty
Many of us have experienced moments when we feel overwhelmed or let down by others, leading to the thought that "people are so shitty." This feeling, while common, is a reflection of frustration stemming from unmet expectations or encountering negative behaviors in daily life. In my personal experience, recognizing why we feel this way is the first step toward managing these emotions. Often, it involves dealing with selfishness, dishonesty, or outright rudeness from others, which can affect our mental well-being. However, focusing on the broader context—like stress, personal struggles, or misunderstandings that might drive such behavior—helps in cultivating empathy. What has helped me during such times is practicing active listening and setting clear boundaries. When I encounter negativity, instead of reacting immediately, I try to pause and assess whether it’s something I can change or if it’s best to detach emotionally. This approach has reduced the emotional toll and improved my relationships. Additionally, surrounding myself with supportive and positive people makes a significant difference. It's vital to remember that everyone's different, and while some people may disappoint us, plenty also bring kindness and joy. Engaging in community activities or volunteer work has opened my eyes to the good in people and restored my faith in humanity. Ultimately, while it’s valid to feel that "people are so shitty" at times, using those moments as opportunities for self-reflection and growth can transform frustration into understanding and resilience.
