... Read morePlanning my son's second birthday was such a blast, especially with a theme as iconic as 'Two Infinity & Beyond' from Toy Story! I wanted to share some of the details and DIY ideas that made his party extra special, hoping it helps other parents planning their little one's big day. One of the biggest hits was definitely our Mr. Potato Head Cantaloupe fruit platter. It looked amazing and was surprisingly easy to put together! Here's how I did it: I started with a nice, firm cantaloupe for the body. For the eyes, I used large black olives cut in half and stuck them on with toothpicks. The nose was a small piece of orange bell pepper, and for the mouth, a curved slice of red apple worked perfectly. The ears were two more slices of apple, and for the arms, I used banana slices. Inside, we had a delicious creamy fruit dip, and around our Mr. Potato Head, I arranged a colorful assortment of fresh strawberries, seedless grapes, and more cut melon. It was a healthy and fun centerpiece that everyone, especially the kids, loved! Of course, no 'Two Infinity & Beyond' party is complete without Buzz Lightyear! Instead of traditional cookies, we opted for adorable Buzz Lightyear themed cupcakes. Each cupcake had white frosting, and some featured little toppers with baby's faces in Buzz Lightyear suits – they were just too cute! We also had a fabulous round birthday cake with a fun cow print frosting, perfectly matching the Toy Story aesthetic. It was topped with a '2' candle and a Buzz Lightyear in a spaceship figurine, along with 'Happy Birthday PAXTON' in colorful letters. These treats really brought the whole theme to life. For decorations, we went all out! The 'TWO INFINITY AND BEYOND' banner with Woody and Buzz Lightyear cutouts was a focal point, surrounded by vibrant and cow print balloons. We set up a whole Toy Story themed party table with Woody and Jessie dolls overseeing the spread. Alongside the main cake and cupcakes, we had various snacks, with blue polka dot napkins and plates adding to the festive atmosphere. Even little details, like a glass jar with a ribbon, contributed to the overall theme. My top tip for planning a themed party like this is to pick a few key elements to go all out on, like the Mr. Potato Head fruit display or custom cupcakes, and then fill in with simpler, coordinating decorations. Don't be afraid to get creative with food that doubles as decor! It really makes a difference and creates a memorable experience for everyone, especially the birthday boy. Seeing his face light up made all the effort worth it!
