My sweet boy, today was our day. Just me and you. We went to the park where you ran with all the energy in the world. You had a little fall, and for a second my heart skipped, but you were perfectly fine. You stood up tall, brushed yourself off, and carried on — stronger than before. It reminded me how quickly you are growing, how much braver you’ve become.
At the library, you surprised me by asking to go. You wanted to read books — your own idea, your own wish. And when we reached the pond, your first instinct was to share your snack with the ducks. My little animal lover, you make me so proud. Inside, your eyes lit up when you found your favorite author’s display. You walked around, carefully checking to see if you already had all the books at home. That joy, that excitement for stories, is something I’ll never forget.
Then came the grocery store, where I saw a new side of you. You held my hand, but you led me. You picked your favorite fruits like you had been doing it forever. You looked so sure of yourself, so grown up — and yet, in my eyes, you are still my tiny baby. Of course, we couldn’t leave without corn, your favorite. You filled the basket with it proudly, like it was the most important thing in the world.
And maybe it was. Because that basket, those books, those ducks, those tiny falls and big recoveries — they made our day what it was. It wasn’t perfect. It was busy, messy, and sometimes a little overwhelming. But it was our kind of day. The kind I’ll look back on when you’re much older and realize these were the moments that mattered most.
