What is habit stacking, and who benefits from it?
Habit stacking is a term I hear often, but not always associated with ADHD. What I have learned over the years, though, is that this method is one of the only ways for me to reliably build any sort of routine. Being an ADHDer, I often have to consciously do each task every day… None of it really seems to come naturally.

Habit stacking is an innovative strategy that involves linking a new habit to an already established one, making it easier to integrate into your daily life. This method is particularly beneficial for those with ADHD, as it provides a structured way to form new routines without feeling overwhelmed. Research shows that habits are easier to adopt when they are connected to existing behaviors. For instance, if you want to start meditating, you can do it right after brushing your teeth in the morning. This unique pairing not only reinforces the new habit but also takes advantage of the brain's natural tendency to follow through with established routines. For individuals struggling with ADHD, habit stacking can simplify the process of habit formation, minimizing the cognitive load typically associated with making changes. Additionally, there are various techniques and tools, such as reminders or apps specifically designed to assist those with ADHD in integrating habit stacking into their lives. Community support is also invaluable; sharing experiences and tips with others can provide motivation and enhance accountability. If you're looking to improve your life through habit stacking, consider starting small and gradually adding new habits once you feel comfortable. Popular pairings include combining exercise with a favorite podcast or reading a few pages of a book after lunch. Remember, the key is consistency and patience as you embark on this journey toward better routines and productivity.

I’m working on habit stacking now!! One of my habits I’m trying to create is listening to a relevant podcast (news, business, special interests) and I’m pairing it with morning hygiene! Also stacking making breakfast with taking my supplements. I like how you stacked watering plants with your skin routine 😁
