3 things you do that might be increasing anxiety

My anxiety has been through the roof lately and I couldn't figure out why. I did a quick check in with myself and here's what I learned:

I was drinking way too much coffee... and with my stimulant meds! Caffeine produces cortisol, and stress can make us anxious.

I was taking on too much in a short period of time. We only have so much capacity. Taking on more stresses us out!

I talk a lot about comparisons, but I've been comparing myself to others success lately. Thinking you have to have what the person next to you does is setting yourself up for anxiety. Just do you!

... Read moreUnderstanding the sources of anxiety is crucial for managing it effectively. Many individuals overlook seemingly innocuous habits that can contribute to heightened anxiety levels. One common factor is caffeine consumption, particularly when combined with stimulant medications. Caffeine can stimulate cortisol production, leading to increased stress. Reducing caffeine intake may alleviate some anxiety symptoms. Moreover, taking on too many responsibilities without considering personal boundaries can lead to mental exhaustion and stress. Learning to say 'no' is a powerful skill that can help maintain your mental well-being by preventing overwhelm. It's essential to assess your current commitments and prioritize what truly matters. Lastly, the tendency to compare oneself to others is a pervasive issue in today’s social media-driven world. These comparisons often set unrealistic benchmarks for success and happiness, which can trigger unnecessary anxiety. Focusing on personal growth and individual journey can foster a more positive mindset. Embrace your unique path, and remember that everyone is on their journey, which may look different from yours. Recognizing these patterns is the first step toward improving mental health.
