Promises I’m making to myself this New Year
For about 30 years, I just kind of floated through life. I didn’t really know what was bothering me or where I was at because I was in a constant state of overwhelm.
Since my autism and ADHD diagnoses, I’ve been working through therapy and finding ways to chart how I’m doing, what my expectations are and what I want to accomplish. I’m hopeful these promises to myself will get me where I want to go.
What are you promising yourself as you go into a new year?

As we transition into the New Year, many individuals reflect on personal growth and set intentions that can lead to a more fulfilling life. In my journey of understanding and coping with autism and ADHD, I've made several vital promises to focus on my well-being. One key promise is to prioritize self-care over accommodating the needs of others, ensuring that my mental health remains a priority. Listening to my inner voice is essential, especially when self-doubt creeps in. I commit to nurturing the evolved version of myself, the one that has taken years to shape and now blossoms with happiness. These resolutions not only foster self-love but can also promote a richer life experience. Consider what promises you could make for yourself this year. They could be simple yet powerful, like dedicating time to your hobbies, practicing mindfulness, or seeking support from friends and professionals. Remember, it's about finding what truly works for you and committing to it wholeheartedly. Setting these intentions can be a step toward a more intentional, joyful life in the new year.
