Growing up with pitbulls has changed my perspective on these amazing dogs completely. Like many, I once believed the stereotype that pitbulls aren’t safe with children. However, experiencing their gentle and loyal nature firsthand has been eye-opening. Pitbulls, such as our own Coco Loco, thrive on affection and form incredibly strong bonds with family members, especially kids. They show immense patience and often enjoy cuddling or simply being near children, acting as both companions and protectors. It’s important to recognize that a dog’s temperament largely depends on upbringing, socialization, and training rather than breed alone. When raised in a loving environment with proper guidance, pitbulls are among the most trustworthy and devoted dogs anyone can have. Our youngest daughter’s playful interactions with Coco Loco are a perfect example — the dog’s attentiveness and care prove how protective and gentle they truly are. Addressing the common misconception "Pitbulls aren't good to have around kids" requires sharing positive, real-life experiences like ours. Pitbulls can teach children empathy, responsibility, and companionship, all while offering unconditional love.
