Family Hike

Tanyard Creek Courts
2025/7/5 Edited to

... Read moreI recently took my family on a hike at the Tanyard Creek Nature Trail, and it was such a refreshing escape! We were looking for a family-friendly adventure, and this spot absolutely delivered. From the moment we saw the large brown information sign for the Tanyard Creek Nature Trail, we knew we were in for a treat. It even had a map, which was super helpful for planning our route! The trail itself is beautiful and diverse. We started our journey on a paved trail that led us through a lush green forest, with sunlight dappling through the dense tree canopy – it felt magical. Soon after, we crossed a charming wooden bridge, which was a fun little landmark for the kids. The highlight for all of us had to be the stunning waterfalls. I mean, who doesn't love the sound and sight of water cascading over multiple rocky ledges? We spent ages just watching the water plunge into the pool below, surrounded by vibrant green foliage. It was truly a picturesque spot, perfect for a photo op. Beyond the waterfalls, the trail offered so much more. We discovered a clear, shallow creek flowing through the sun-dappled forest, where the kids loved skipping stones. The reflections of trees on the water's surface were just beautiful. We also stumbled upon a scenic view of a wide lake with forested hills and distant houses along the shoreline under a clear sky. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! The rocky and grassy banks along the lake offered a great spot to pause and take it all in. If you're planning your own trip to Tanyard Creek, I highly recommend grabbing a trail map from the information sign at the trailhead. It really helps to orient yourself and choose the best route for your family's energy levels. The trail is generally considered easy to moderate, making it accessible for most ages, but always check the map for specific loop lengths. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring plenty of water, and pack some snacks, especially if you have little ones. I also saw some safety warnings on the sign, so it’s always good to be aware of your surroundings and stay on marked paths. This trail is a hidden gem for anyone looking for a memorable outdoor experience with a mix of beautiful natural features. Definitely put Tanyard Creek on your list!
