The interstellar object 3I/'Oumuamua continues to intrigue scientists due to its distinct characteristics, especially regarding its polarization properties. Polarization refers to the way sunlight interacts with dust and material on an object's surface, affecting the light it reflects back to observers. By studying polarization, researchers can gain insight into the object's composition, surface texture, and other physical properties. What makes 3I/'Oumuamua particularly fascinating is that its polarization signal was unlike any previously recorded from comets or asteroids within our solar system. Typically, sunlight bouncing off dust particles vibrates in predictable ways, allowing scientists to identify material 'fingerprints' for every comet and asteroid. However, 3I/'Oumuamua exhibited a combination of negative polarization at small phase angles and an inversion angle near 17°, coupled with a polarization degree as high as 0.7%.
