Living with borderline personality disorder (BPD) is often a turbulent experience full of intense emotions and moments of self-doubt. I recently explored a novel way to express these internal struggles by asking ChatGPT to describe my mental state using my own image. It was both eye-opening and therapeutic. What resonated most was how accurately the AI captured feelings like 'HATE MYSELF TOO MUCH' and the confusing question of 'WHO FEELING AM I WITHOUT NOT ENOUGH You? CONTROL.' These raw emotions are difficult to put into words, but seeing them reflected back through AI-generated language made me feel validated and understood in a unique way. Using AI like ChatGPT to explore mental health allowed me to externalize my thoughts and emotions, making them less overwhelming. It’s fascinating to see how technology can support mental health awareness by providing new perspectives on personal experiences. For others struggling with BPD or similar challenges, this could be a helpful tool to better articulate what they feel inside when words fall short. Additionally, this process highlighted how loss of control is central to my experience with BPD, a common theme for many. Embracing such tools might encourage more open conversations around mental illness and reduce stigma by showing the human side behind complex conditions. In summary, creatively combining personal images with AI descriptions opens new doors to express and understand difficult mental health experiences. It’s a promising step toward greater empathy and awareness for those living with BPD and beyond.
