I didn’t love it 🫤😕

It smelled good but I didn’t love it enough to buy . How do you feel about this scent ?

💵 Price: $14.99

💌 Brand: Sand + Fog

Can be purchased from : Tj Maxx / Marshall’s

2025/1/21 Edited to

... Read moreThe thrill of hunting for hidden gems at Tj Maxx or Marshall’s is real, and it’s how I stumbled upon the SAND+FOG® LEMON SUGAR EAU DE PARFUM OIL. My original thought, as mentioned, was that 'it smelled good,' and honestly, it truly does have an initial charm. For just $14.99, you get a substantial 1.7 FL. OZ., which felt like a steal at first glance. The scent itself is a bright, cheerful burst of lemon right from the start. It’s not a sharp, acidic lemon, but rather a soft, candied lemon, like the glaze on a lemon cake or a spoonful of lemon curd. This is immediately followed by a sweet, warm sugar note that grounds the citrus, preventing it from becoming too tart or fleeting. It’s undeniably a gourmand experience, evoking a sense of cozy comfort and innocent sweetness. As an Eau de Parfum Oil, I had some expectations for its longevity and how it would wear on the skin. While the initial projection is gentle, it quickly settles into a lovely skin scent. I found it lingered for a good 4-5 hours, which is decent for an oil at this price point, especially one with lighter, citrusy notes. It creates a personal scent bubble, meaning it won't overpower anyone around you, making it ideal for office environments or intimate settings where a subtle fragrance is preferred. Sand + Fog is typically known for their home fragrances, so seeing this Lemon Sugar Eau de Parfum Oil in their personal care line was a pleasant surprise and speaks to their ability to translate popular scent profiles into wearable forms. So, why did I ultimately pass on it? Despite its undeniable pleasantness and affordability, for my personal collection, it didn't quite hit that unique spark I look for in a fragrance. I tend to prefer scents with a little more complexity, perhaps a subtle floral undertone or a musky dry-down that adds another dimension. The Lemon Sugar remained quite linear on me, which isn't a bad thing at all – many people love a straightforward scent! But for me, I wanted just a bit more evolution. It’s a beautifully simple and sweet lemon, but I already have other gourmand citrus scents in my rotation that offer a layering of notes I adore. However, if you're someone who loves straightforward, delightful sweet-gourmand fragrances, especially those with a prominent lemon and sugar profile, then this SAND+FOG® LEMON SUGAR EAU DE PARFUM OIL could be your perfect match. It’s particularly great for spring and summer days, or anytime you need a cheerful, uplifting scent. My advice for anyone hunting for fragrances at discount stores like Tj Maxx or Marshall’s is always to test them on your skin if possible and give them an hour or two to develop. What smells good on paper might react differently with your body chemistry. While I had to pass, I left feeling happy that such an affordable and lovely option exists for fellow fragrance enthusiasts. What are your thoughts on simple, sweet scents like this?
