... Read moreHey everyone! Since we're all buzzing about summer must-haves and what really makes the season shine, I wanted to share a deeper dive into my personal summer necessities. My last post just scratched the surface, and I’ve got so many more tips and items that I truly can’t live without once the sun starts beaming! It’s all about making the most of those sunny, long days, whether you're hitting the beach, exploring a new city, or just chilling in your backyard.
First up, and this is truly non-negotiable for me, sun protection. I’ve learned this the hard way after a few too many sunburns! Beyond just grabbing any sunscreen, I now stock up on a few different types to cover all my bases. For my face, I swear by a lightweight, non-greasy SPF 50 that not only protects but also wears beautifully under makeup without feeling heavy or leaving a white cast. For my body, a water-resistant spray sunscreen is an absolute game-changer for quick reapplication, especially after a refreshing dip in the ocean or pool. And a pro-tip I swear by: don’t forget a good lip balm with SPF! It’s such a small detail but makes a huge difference in preventing chapped, sunburnt lips. Plus, a stylish wide-brimmed hat and polarized sunglasses are always in my bag – essential for protecting my eyes and skin from those harsh rays while adding a chic touch to any outfit.
Next, capturing those fleeting memories! I totally agree with adding a light blue instant camera or a green disposable camera to your summer arsenal. There’s just something so incredibly nostalgic and fun about physical photos you can share instantly or develop later, away from the endless scroll of your phone gallery. It encourages you to be more present and capture candid, authentic moments. I usually bring both: the instant camera for immediate gratification and fun snaps with friends, and the disposable for those surprise, gritty, 'I forgot I even took this' shots that are always the best.
And for those inevitable beach days or poolside lounges, a versatile beige knitted cover-up is a true lifesaver. Mine is lightweight and breathable, perfect for throwing over a swimsuit. It’s chic enough to go from the beach to a casual lunch spot without feeling underdressed, keeps you modest, and provides a little extra sun protection without feeling heavy or clingy. I love how easily it pairs with different swimsuits and can even double as a light evening layer when there's a slight breeze.
But beyond these absolute essentials, what else makes my summer truly complete? Hydration is paramount – a stylish insulated water bottle is always by my side, keeping my ice water cold all day long. For entertainment, a good book or some curated podcasts are essential for those moments of quiet relaxation. And finally, to carry all these fantastic summer essentials, a spacious but lightweight tote bag is crucial! It helps keep everything organized and easily accessible, preventing that frantic search for your sunscreen when you need it most. These are the items that truly define my list of summer necessities for a comfortable, fun, and memorable season.
What are some of your often-overlooked summer necessities? I’m always on the hunt for new ideas to make my summer even better, so share your secrets with me!
JBL speaker, a tote bag, bikinis, cute flip flops, coverups, giant sunglasses and hat, huge water bottle… what else am I missing?! Oh, beach towel of course! I like to bring my hairbrush too after swimming :)
