ประกันภัย พ.ร.บ. หรือที่รู้จักกันดีในชื่อ ประกันภัยรถภาคบังคับ มีประโยชน์อย่างยิ่งสำหรับผู้ขับขี่และผู้โดยสารในกรณีที่เกิดอุบัติเหตุบนท้องถนน เพราะเน้นคุ้มครองชีวิตและค่ารักษาพยาบาล ไม่ใช่ซ่อมรถยนต์ เหมาะสำหรับทุกคนที่ใช้รถ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นรถจักรยานยนต์ รถยนต์นั่งส่วนบุคคล หรือรถยนต์เพื่อการพาณิชย์ จ่ายเบี้ย พ.ร.บ. เพียงไม่กี่ร้อยบาทต่อปี แต่ได้ความคุ้มครองเงินค่ารักษาพยาบาลสูงสุดถึงรายละ 80,000 บาทตามที่ค่าใช้จ่ายจริงไม่เกิน 30,000 บาทต่อคน นอกจากนี้ยังมีค่าชดเชยกรณีเสียชีวิตหรือทุพพลภาพถาวรสูงสุดถึง 500,000 บาท ซึ่งช่วยแบ่งเบาภาระทางการเงินและบรรเทาความทุกข์ยากในครอบครัวได้อย่างดี กองทุนทดแทนผู้ประสบภัยจากรถที่จัดตั้งขึ้นตาม พ.ร.บ. นี้ ทำหน้าที่ช่วยดูแลและค้ำประกันความช่วยเหลืออย่างทั่วถึง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นผู้ขับขี่ ผู้โดยสาร หรือบุคคลภายนอกที่ได้รับอุบัติเหตุจากรถยนต์ การมี พ.ร.บ. จึงหมายถึงการรักษาชีวิตและความเป็นอยู่ของทุกคนให้อยู่ในความคุ้มครองและไม่ถูกทอดทิ้งกลางทาง หากไม่ทำ พ.ร.บ. เจ้าของรถจะถูกลงโทษตามกฎหมาย ปรับไม่เกิน 10,000 บาท ผู้ขับขี่รถคันที่ไม่มีประกันก็มีโทษปรับเท่าเดิม หากเจ้าของรถได้นำรถที่ไม่มี พ.ร.บ. ไปใช้ จะถูกปรับทั้งสองกรณีรวมไม่เกิน 20,000 บาท ซึ่งเป็นโทษที่ไม่ควรมองข้าม สรุปแล้ว พ.ร.บ. เป็นสิ่งจำเป็นที่ผู้ใช้รถทุกคนไม่ควรมองข้าม เพราะนอกจากจะช่วยรักษาชีวิตและสุขภาพแล้ว ยังช่วยลดภาระค่าใช้จ่ายในกรณีฉุกเฉิน นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นการปฏิบัติตามกฎหมายเพื่อความปลอดภัยของตัวคุณและคนรอบข้างด้วย การมี พ.ร.บ. คือความอุ่นใจที่เหมือนกับการสร้างเกราะป้องกันชีวิตจากเหตุการณ์ไม่คาดคิดที่อาจเกิดขึ้นได้ทุกเมื่อบนท้องถนน
