My name is Kayla, today is my 2nd Birthday!
2 years ago, i went infor a routine check, & a nurse broke my water on accident. after many complications, 4 seizures, and your heart rate dropping, 12 houra later i woke up from surgery and they deposited this tiny human in my arms. no instructions no guide just a promise to take love you, protect you, qnd care for you til the day i die. and ive done just that everyday for the last 2 years, and will continue to do until long after im gone. i love you baby. your the one that officially made mommy a mommy, my rainbow baby, the one i never thought i would have. i know we dont have money for a party, cake or gifts this year. but ill make it the best one i can i promise! mommy will never stop loving you, even after she loses her memory i will always love you and your sister!
As a mom to a rainbow baby like my precious Kayla, every milestone feels like an extra special gift. If you're unfamiliar with the term, a 'rainbow baby' is a child born after a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, or infant loss. For us, Kayla arrived after a journey filled with unexpected complications and heart-stopping moments. Her birth wasn't straightforward; I remember the terror of those 12 hours, the seizures, and the worry about her heart rate dropping. When they finally placed that tiny human in my arms, it was a moment of pure, overwhelming relief and profound love – a promise to cherish her every single day. Those early days were a blur of fear and hope, and sometimes, even now, the memories can be raw. But seeing Kayla, my little 'Birthday Prince' in her cute grey shirt (yes, she loves it!), laughing and exploring as she turns two, makes every single challenge worth it. It’s a powerful reminder of how resilient life is, and how strong a mother’s love can be. Each year, especially on her birthday, I'm reminded of the incredible strength she has, and the joy she brings into our lives. This year, like many families, we're navigating things on a tighter budget. I mentioned in my original post that we don't have money for a big party, fancy cake, or lots of gifts. But you know what? That doesn't diminish the magic of her second birthday one bit. We're focusing on making it memorable with love-filled moments. For mamas out there who might be in a similar situation, here are a few ideas that have helped us make birthdays special without breaking the bank: First, a homemade treat always feels more personal. Even a simple cupcake with a candle can light up a little one’s face. Second, focus on experiences over material things. A trip to the park, a special storytime at home, or even just extra cuddles and playtime can create lasting memories. Third, involve family and close friends in simple ways. A video call, a heartfelt message, or asking for likes and comments on a special birthday post, just like I did for Kayla, can make them feel celebrated by a wider circle of love. It’s about the presence, not the presents. What truly matters is the unconditional love we pour into our children. Kayla's second birthday is a celebration of her life, her resilience, and the incredible journey we've had together. It’s a testament to the fact that even after the storm, a beautiful rainbow truly does appear. My heart is full of gratitude for my two daughters, and I will continue to love and protect them, always.

Happy birthday Kayla, sending you lots of birthday love and wishes from Iowa 🫶🏻☺️
