I never thought I’d feel so emotional over losing an app. But TikTok literally changed my life. Not only did I make new friends and overcome fears of posting my appearance online, but TikTok allowed me to find a community of other chronically ill people who had been failed by the American medical system. We connected and learned from one another and were able to face our doctors armed with new information that, for many of us, finally led to answers and diagnoses. The fact that we will no longer have access to that information and community as we continue to navigate lifelong health issues is absolutely devastating. My heart is also broken for the millions of Americans who depended on Tiktok for their income. I’m scared for the future of this country, but we will keep fighting for the American people.
