Please don’t bring your sick pet to their wellness appointment or call us and tell us what’s going on so we can set aside enough time for your pet! My hospital schedules wellness appointments for 20 mins. That is clearly not enough time for a sick pet. Please let your vet staff know what’s going on, not only for scheduling purposes but also, why would you want to make your pet wait if you know they’re uncomfortable 😭 end rant xo love Cara

... Read moreFrom my experience working in veterinary care, I've seen too many pet owners bring their sick pets to scheduled wellness visits, hoping to address all health concerns in one go. However, wellness appointments are typically short—around 20 minutes—and designed for preventive care rather than acute illnesses. When a pet is unwell, they need focused attention and time to properly diagnose and treat their symptoms. Making a sick pet wait for a wellness appointment not only delays necessary care but can also cause additional stress and discomfort for the animal. Pets can't verbally express how they're feeling, so prolonging evaluation can worsen their condition without early intervention. Calling ahead and informing your vet staff about your pet’s symptoms ensures they can allocate the right time and resources, ultimately providing better care. I've also noticed that communication plays a key role. Being transparent with your vet about your pet’s health issues helps the staff prioritize appointments effectively. Sometimes, it may be tempting to combine appointments to save time or money, but it often leads to rushed consultations and overlooked symptoms. In short, treat sick pets with the urgency they deserve. Schedule a separate appointment for illnesses and keep wellness check-ups for preventive care. Your pet’s comfort and health depend on timely and adequate veterinary attention.
