How to Habit Stack (the right way) 💗

Habit-stacking is an efficient and effective way to get multiple habits in at the same time, inevitably saving you time during your day. I mean, we all wish we had the time for an 1 hour plus morning and evening routine but that usually just isn’t realistic. 🤷🏼‍♀️

➡️ So habit-stacking is basically combining multiple habits into one, aka multi-tasking. Or doing something you would usually do while also adding in a habit, ex: driving to work while listening to podcast.

As a coach I preach a ton about habit-stacking how beneficial it can be for your overall mental and physical health. Remember that habits help you build the life that you want and one that makes you feel your best. So doing your best to incorporate some small things into your routine can make some big changes. 🫶🏼

I hope that this post gives you some good examples and ways to habit-stack in your own daily routine. Here to answer any questions! 💗

... Read moreYou've probably heard about habit stacking, but sometimes the concept feels a bit abstract until you see it in action, right? I know when I first started, I was hungry for real-life examples and routines I could actually use. It's one thing to understand what it is, and another to actually do it consistently. My goal is to help you move from understanding to truly implementing this game-changing technique in your own life to build better habits. So, how do you really kickstart your own habit stacking journey? Based on my experience and what I've learned from countless planners and weekly calendar tips, it really boils down to three key steps. First, **list out all those habits you wish you had. Don't hold back! Maybe it's drinking more water, reading 10 pages, meditating for 5 minutes, stretching, or even just jotting down a quick gratitude note. Next, identify your existing, unshakeable routines.** These are your anchors – things you already do without fail, like drinking your morning coffee, brushing your teeth, walking the dog, or waiting for your computer to boot up. Finally, start strategically linking the new with the old. This is where the magic happens! And to really make it stick, consistency is key, so consider a simple habit tracker or a designated spot on your weekly calendar to keep you accountable. I've personally found morning routines to be a goldmine for habit stacking. Instead of trying to carve out an extra hour, I started small. For example, while my coffee brews (existing habit), I now do 5 minutes of mindful breathing. Then, while I drink that first cup of coffee, I spend 10 minutes journaling or planning my day – a perfect "LEVEL 5" example combining self-reflection with a warm drink! This makes my morning so much more intentional without feeling rushed. Another easy "LEVEL 1" stack I love is listening to an educational podcast or audiobook while I'm walking to work or doing chores. My commute or cleaning time suddenly becomes learning time! Or, when I get home, *as soon as I walk in the door*, I put my keys down and immediately fill up my water bottle. It's a tiny stack, but it ensures I hydrate without even thinking about it. For a slightly more advanced stack, consider this: *after you finish dinner*, immediately wash one dish, then use the next 5 minutes to stretch or do a quick meditation before settling down for the evening. Evening routines are just as important for winding down. *Before I brush my teeth*, I take my vitamins. *While I'm letting my nightly face serum soak in*, I read a chapter of a book. These small additions don't feel like extra work because they're tacked onto something I'm already doing. Think about your weekly calendar and where you can insert these micro-habits. Maybe *while waiting for your computer to boot up*, you do 10 squats. *During a commercial break*, you do some quick stretches. It's about finding those tiny pockets of time inherent in your existing schedule. The beauty of it is that these aren't just random tasks; they're plans to build the life you want, brick by tiny brick. It's incredible how these small, intentional combinations can totally transform your day. You'll be amazed at how much you can achieve without feeling overwhelmed. Give it a try, experiment with different stacks based on these examples, and find what works best for your routine. You've got this!
