New Balance 574 in Sea Salt | Honest Review

the shoe that goes with literally everything. i’ve had these for a while now and here’s what you actually need to know before buying.

**The shoe:** New Balance 574 in Sea Salt. it’s a tonal off-white with suede and mesh overlays, ENCAP cushioning, and a rubber outsole. originally released in 1988 and somehow still the move.

**Sizing:** runs true to size, but if you have wider feet go up half a size. if you’re buying the unisex version, women should size down 1.5 from their normal size. i’d say when in doubt, size down slightly on the women’s specific version.

**Comfort:** the ENCAP midsole is on the firmer side, so if you like a soft and flexible feel these aren’t it. but for all-day wear and support, they deliver.

**The suede factor:** suede molds to your foot over time, so they actually get more comfortable the more you wear them. mine have broken in really well.

**One thing to know:** breathability is not their strong suit , so hot summer days in these will not be your best decision. great for everything else though.

**Worth it?** yes. the colorway is clean, they style with jeans, sweats, skirts, whatever. the photo basically speaks for itself.

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen the New Balance 574 in Sea Salt popping up everywhere, right? From your favorite influencers to everyday street style, these sneakers have truly cemented their place as a wardrobe essential. I've been living in mine for a while now, and I wanted to dive a little deeper into why I think they're an absolute game-changer, especially for those of you who might be on the fence. First off, let's talk about the 'Dad Shoe' vibe. It's not just a trend; it's a movement towards comfort, practicality, and an effortlessly cool aesthetic. The 574 perfectly embodies this. While the original article touched on the design, I want to emphasize how this specific silhouette, with its slightly bulkier profile and classic lines, makes it incredibly versatile. I’ve found that they instantly elevate even the simplest outfits. Think a basic t-shirt and jeans, or even a flowy summer dress – these shoes just add that touch of relaxed chic. It’s no wonder they’re a celebrity favorite; they offer that perfect blend of understated style and wearability. Speaking of wearability, let's circle back to comfort and my personal experience. The original review highlighted the ENCAP midsole, which is great for support. What I've noticed over extended periods, like long city walks or busy days running errands, is that while they might feel a tad firm initially, they truly live up to the promise of being 'GOOD FOR WALKS AND EVERYDAY WEAR.' Unlike some ultra-cushioned shoes that leave my feet feeling tired from too much bounce, the 574 provides stable, reliable support. And yes, as the original article mentioned, the suede really does mold to your foot over time, making them feel like they were custom-made for you. This makes them genuinely 'TRUE TO SIZE COMFORTABLE' once broken in. Maintenance for the Sea Salt colorway is something I often get asked about. My tip? A suede brush and a good quality protective spray are your best friends. These shoes are built to last, but a little care goes a long way in keeping that beautiful off-white hue fresh. I've cleaned mine a few times after unexpected splashes, and they always come up looking nearly new. This adds to their value; they’re an investment that pays off in longevity and style. So, if you’re looking for a sneaker that effortlessly blends into any wardrobe, offers reliable comfort for daily life, and taps into that sought-after 'dad shoe' aesthetic, then the New Balance 574 in Sea Salt is definitely 'WOULD TOTALLY RECOMMEND' in my book. They’re more than just a shoe; they’re a versatile staple that you’ll reach for again and again, just like I do.
