Part 2 of our Solvang weekend getaway 🍷🥐
#photopostcampaign Okay… NOW let’s talk about the food because this little Danish-style town knows how to eat. From fresh pastries and famous aebleskivers to wine tasting and cozy dinner spots like Whiskey ‘N Rye, every stop felt like part of the experience.
One of my favorite things about Solvang is that it somehow feels relaxing, romantic, aesthetic, and foodie-approved all at the same time. It’s the kind of place where you spend the day walking around, trying pastries, sipping wine, shopping, and genuinely slowing down for a minute.
Definitely worth the road trip from LA.

During my recent visit to Solvang, I fell in love with the town’s charming blend of Danish culture and Californian flair, especially its vibrant food scene. The moment you arrive, the sweet aroma of fresh pastries floods the air — truly a baker’s paradise. I made sure to stop by several local bakeries; each one offered unique delights like the famous Danish pancakes and aebleskivers, which are small, round Danish pancakes often served with powdered sugar or jam. They're a must-try for anyone visiting. Aside from pastries, I loved exploring Solvang’s cozy cafes for their artisan coffee, which paired perfectly with the baked goods. One highlight of my trip was visiting Whiskey ‘N Rye, a restaurant known for its great service and delicious, hearty American barbecue dishes complemented by a fantastic selection of drinks. Their fried pickles and cornbread came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Wine tasting is another essential part of the Solvang experience. The town is close to numerous California wineries, making it easy to sample a variety of local wines throughout your stay. A slow-paced day strolling around the quaint streets, shopping, tasting wine, and trying new foods really helps you unwind and appreciate the town’s charm. For anyone planning a weekend escape from Los Angeles, Solvang offers a perfect balance of relaxation and culinary adventure. Whether you’re a foodie eager to explore Danish pastries and eclectic dining or simply looking to soak in the romantic, aesthetic vibes of this quaint town, Solvang won’t disappoint. Remember to come hungry and give yourself plenty of time to savor every bite and sip along the way.
