Tried the new Summer Skies Drink and here are my thoughts:
1. A straw is a MUST. Full disclosure my opinion might differ the next time I get it as this time the barista didn’t give me a straw, which I didn’t realize until we’d already left the drive thru and pulled back onto the road, and you need to have one for this drink otherwise you can’t get the boba to come out.
2. It’s very light on the flavor but not in a bad way. It’s has a mild coconut taste with a slight hint of blue flavor. I’m sure the boba would add to the flavor and make it really good.
3. It’s very refreshing! I downed this a lot quicker that I was anticipating cause it was just super cool and refreshing.
Would I drink again? Yes, but I will make sure to get a straw next time so I can get the boba!

... Read moreBuilding on my first impressions of the new Starbucks Summer Skies Drink, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what makes this beverage a unique summer treat. When I first grabbed this light blue beauty, I was intrigued, especially seeing the vibrant red boba pearls swirling inside. It’s definitely a visually appealing drink, perfect for those sunny day vibes!
So, what exactly is the Summer Skies Drink? It’s part of Starbucks' Refreshers lineup, known for their fruity and invigorating flavors. This particular one features a blue raspberry-flavored base, mixed with coconut milk, and those standout strawberry-flavored boba pearls. The combination is designed to be super refreshing, and honestly, it lives up to that promise. The coconut milk adds a creamy, tropical undertone without making it too heavy, which is key for a warm-weather drink.
Now, about those boba! They are, in my opinion, a game-changer for Starbucks. These aren't the chewy tapioca pearls you might be used to; these are bursting boba, meaning they pop with a burst of strawberry flavor when you bite into them. This adds such a fun, textural element to the drink. As I mentioned before, a straw is non-negotiable if you want to fully enjoy the boba – they’re too big to sip directly, and missing out on them would be a crime! If you’re like me and love that extra chew or pop, you might even consider asking for extra boba when you order your Starbucks Summer Skies Drink.
For those who prefer their drinks less sweet, you could ask for fewer pumps of the blue raspberry syrup. Or, if you want to experiment, try asking for it with lemonade instead of coconut milk for an even tangier kick, although the coconut milk really complements the boba well. This drink truly shines when you’re looking for something light, fruity, and a little bit exotic to cool you down. It’s quickly become one of my go-to options when I need a pick-me-up that’s not coffee-based. Give it a try, and don't forget that straw!
