My favorite love story animes/mangas 🌸🥰
Who doesn’t love a good love story? Also, who doesn’t love a bit of drama, and I right? 😉 I grouped these by what I would consider similar styles, meaning if you like one you should like the other in my opinion! You can agree or disagree but I’ll explain my thinking below 😊
Picture 1. A Sign of Affection and Horimiya: I LOVE these two, and have gotten my husband to watch them as well and he also loves them! While they maybe don’t deal with similar story lines, I believe they are similar in style in the sense that they are just happy, cute stories about two people who find each other by chance and fall in love. They both also deal with a main character who starts out feeling disconnected from those around them (for very different reasons) but are pulled out of that when they meet and fall in love with someone (the other MC). Basically, they are both just sweet stories to watch/read and both will make you happy and smile while watching them! 🥰
Picture 2. The Walls Between Us and Anyway, I’m Falling In Love With You: These are both great reads about childhood friends who grow up and develop feelings for each other. I’ve noticed these stories usually start with the feelings being one sided, or maybe neither characters know their true feelings, but over time they both realize they’re in love with each other and have to deal with the battles/risks that come with changing from friends into something more. There’s a sufficient amount of drama and tension in these to keep a reader interested and plenty of feel good moments when things go right! AIFILWY isn’t completed yet so I am interested to see where it goes BUT I did hear they are starting development on an anime for it!! 😍
Picture 3. A Condition Called Love and Ao Haru Ride (anime is titled Blue Spring Ride): Ok, before we get into the tea, let me just say that I LOVE both of these stories. Both are similar in the fact that the MC male has trauma they are dealing with from loosing someone(s). Now, the reasons for the losses differ, as do the ways the guys deal with them, but they both involve the MC male learning how to love and be loved in a healthy way. ACCL deals with the MC female learning how to love and be loved in a healthy way more so than AHR, but even in AHR Futaba works to learn how to give and receive love from Kou the way that he is now being older and having gone through his loss. Now for the tea…if you are interested in ACCL, DO NOT watch the anime as your first introduction to the story. There is a reason it has gotten heat online, and it’s because the anime struggles to go in depth enough with its explanations upfront as to why Hananoi is the way that he is that it takes away from the story. I don’t know if it’s the animation, the delivery of the script, or the fact they are trying to fit too much material into 12 short episodes, but to me it feels rushed and very disconnected emotionally a lot of times. Don’t get me wrong, there are some beautiful scenes that make my heart smile, but the manga series is just so much better in my opinion. The manga does such a great job of showing both MC’s progression and emotional and mental growth, and I can’t wait to see how it progresses!
