My 5-9 after my 9-5 😎

Mondays suck 👎🏻

I was so tired leaving work.. but most of the time my tiredness comes from a mental state. I decided that I would stop complaining and have a productive night.

I just started my ACOTAR journey and I’m LOCKED IN. 📚

It was a beautiful day so I knew I wanted to get some much needed yard work done outside. By the time I was done outside I was ready to relax. I jumped in the shower and made dinner for my boyfriend and I. He got home from golfing and we sat and ate dinner. After that I laid on the couch and played Palia. I just downloaded it and I am really liking it so far. I can’t believe it was free!

I realized it was already 9:30 and I was ready for bed. My clothes were still in the dryer… but that can be tomorrow’s problems. 👀

... Read moreIt's so easy to feel that post-work slump, isn't it? I totally get those 'Mondays suck' vibes. I used to let that mental drain dictate my entire evening, but I've learned a few tricks to reclaim my 5-9 after my 9-5. It's not always about doing something 'big' but making small intentional choices that add up. One thing that helps me immensely is a quick 'reset' right after walking in the door. For me, it's often putting on some music, changing into comfier clothes, or even just taking a few deep breaths. That drive home, listening to my ACOTAR audiobook, is also a great mental transition. It helps me leave the workday behind and step into my personal time. When it comes to productivity, I've found that tackling one small task immediately can create momentum. Instead of letting laundry pile up, I might just pop a load in the machine right away, like I did yesterday. Or, if I know my sourdough starter needs feeding, that five-minute task feels less like a chore and more like nurturing a little science experiment! It's all about breaking things down. Same goes for yard work – instead of thinking of it as a huge project, I tackle one small section, like digging out a few dead plants or tackling a patch of weeds. It makes it manageable and surprisingly satisfying. But it's not all about chores! Your 5-9 is your time. I make sure to carve out time for things I genuinely enjoy. Diving into a good book, especially one as engrossing as ACOTAR, is pure escapism. And discovering new games like Palia on my Switch? That's my ultimate chill-out zone. It's amazing how much a little gaming can melt away the day's stress, especially when it's free and cozy! Self-care is non-negotiable too. That shower after yard work felt incredible – it's not just about hygiene, but washing away the day's grime, both physical and mental. And a good, home-cooked dinner, shared with someone, or even just enjoyed quietly, is a moment to refuel and reconnect. Finally, winding down is key. After dinner and some Palia, I notice I'm ready for bed. Sometimes the laundry gets left in the dryer, and that's okay! It's about balance, not perfection. My goal for my 5-9 is to feel like I've lived a little, accomplished something, and prepared for restful sleep. What small things do you do to make your evenings shine? I'd love to hear them!
