Built a business with my little sister so I could ask her for help every 5 minutes 😅
Starting a small business with a family member, especially a sibling, can be both rewarding and entertaining. I built a bakery business with my little sister, and honestly, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, learning, and lots of laughs. One of the most relatable experiences is dealing with minor work inconveniences that can sometimes throw off your entire day. For example, when the oven isn’t heating properly or a delivery is delayed, it’s tempting to panic, but having my sister by my side made it easier to handle these setbacks calmly. We found that communication was key. Since I knew I’d often need help or advice, partnering with my sister meant I could regularly lean on her for support every few minutes. This might sound like a lot, but in a small business, quick decision-making and teamwork are essential. Plus, sharing responsibilities helped reduce the stress that usually comes with managing everything alone. The comedic side of running our bakery keeps the atmosphere light, even during busy times. We joke about how every minor problem feels like a huge crisis at first, but then we usually laugh it off together. This camaraderie not only strengthens our bond but makes our business journey more enjoyable. For anyone considering starting a business with family, be prepared for some challenges but also embrace the unique support system it offers. Overall, building a bakery with my sister taught me a lot about patience, flexibility, and the power of teamwork in small business. Each minor inconvenience became a chance to learn and grow, showing that sometimes, the best part of entrepreneurship is the shared experiences and memories made along the way.
