As you can see, I really focused on capturing his incredible range of emotions using just my trusty pencil. I find drawing MHA characters, especially Deku, incredibly rewarding because their personalities shine so much through their expressions. When I started on this particular page, my goal was to create a series of pencil drawings that really highlighted Deku's journey. You know how he's always reacting and analyzing things in the show? I wanted to bring that to life. I worked on several small sketches, each showing a different facet of his character – from his wide-eyed surprise and shock, often seen when he's encountering a new quirk or a tough situation, to his determined and hopeful smile. Capturing these 'various expressions' is key to making him feel alive on the page. For anyone looking to try their hand at an Izuku Midoriya sketch, I always recommend starting with basic shapes to get the head structure right. Then, focus on the eyes – they are so expressive for Deku! For his 'shocked' look, think about widening the pupils and adding those subtle lines around the eyes. For his 'smiling' face, pay attention to the curve of his mouth and the crinkle around his eyes. Experimenting with different pencil pressures can help you achieve depth and shading, making your deku pencil sketch pop. I often use softer pencils for shading and harder ones for crisp outlines. I also love adding little details that make the artwork uniquely 'My Hero Academia.' You might notice some subtle green accents in my drawings, which are a nod to his iconic costume and Quirk. Sometimes, I even add decorative elements like stars or question marks around him, inspired by the manga panels and his hero analysis notebook – it adds a bit of flair and emphasizes his inquisitive nature. It's like my own mini 'Izuku Midoriya notebook analysis,' but in drawing form! And for those of you who've asked about how to draw Deku and Bakugo, while this page is all about Deku, the principles are similar! Understanding each character's unique facial features and typical expressions is crucial. Bakugo, for instance, would have sharper, more intense angles, while Deku's features are generally softer. Practicing individual character sketches really helps build that foundational understanding before you try drawing them together. This sketchbook page, dated '12-30-23', was a really fun challenge, and I poured a lot of my passion for My Hero Academia into these multiple pencil drawings. I hope my deku sketches inspire you to grab your own pencil and start drawing! Whether you're doing a quick deku sketch or a detailed midoriya drawing, the most important thing is to enjoy the process and let your creativity flow. Happy sketching!
