... Read moreOne of the most overlooked aspects of cooking is the correct use of spices, particularly garlic powder. Many home cooks do not realize that garlic powder must be hydrated before use to activate its flavor compounds effectively. This simple step can greatly improve the taste of your dishes. To hydrate garlic powder, you can mix it with a small amount of water or oil—letting it sit for a few minutes before adding it to your dish. This technique is particularly advantageous when seasoning proteins like chicken, ensuring that the garlic flavor penetrates the meat rather than just coating it on the surface. Additionally, consider that garlic powder can vary in potency, so it’s important to start with a moderate amount and adjust to taste. This not only avoids overpowering your dish but also allows for better control of the final flavor profile. Incorporating this easy-to-follow tip into your cooking routine can elevate your meals, making them more flavorful and enjoyable. Whether you're hosting a dinner party or simply preparing a weeknight meal, mastering the art of using garlic powder will be a game-changer in your kitchen. So, the next time you're reaching for that spice jar, remember: hydrate first for the best results!

😂I've never added seasoning to completely cooked meat, Garlic powder gets hydrated with the juices of the meat while cooking, seems counterproductive to put water on garlic powder, when you put it in a pot the food is already wet 🤦🏾‍♀️❤️

Culinary grad, chef here. It’s not necessary but you essentially made garlic paste which is a real thing stores sell. But if want to be technical for the best flavor use real minced garlic. And for ratios especially when browning meat always use more onion than garlic it’ll improve the taste. Like S&P more Salt than P
