Stepping into the magical world of Prythian, the ACOTAR series has truly captured my imagination. As a huge fan, I often find myself dreaming up ways to bring a little bit of that fantasy into my everyday life, and what better way than through makeup? Recently, I decided to challenge myself to create a look inspired by the radiant Day Court, and I’m so excited to share my journey and tips with you all! The Day Court, with its sun-drenched landscapes and vibrant energy, always struck me as a place of bright, clear colors. I envisioned a look that was bold yet ethereal, reflecting the court's unique aesthetic. For me, that meant focusing on a vibrant yellow and blue eyeshadow combination, a stark contrast that still felt cohesive and magical. I wanted to capture the essence of light and sky, so these colors were perfect. My process began with prepping my eyelids to ensure the bold pigments would truly pop. A good eyeshadow primer is non-negotiable for me, especially when working with such intense shades. I started by laying down a bright, matte yellow across my lid, blending it carefully into the crease. The key is to build the color slowly to avoid any patchiness. Next, I introduced the blue, focusing it on the outer corner and blending it inwards, creating a gradient effect that mimicked a sunset or sunrise. I found that using a smaller, denser brush allowed for more precise application of the blue. This really helped to define the eye shape and add that dramatic flair. But what truly makes this a creative makeup look for Prythian? For me, it was the white lipstick. It’s not a color I typically reach for, but for the Day Court, it felt unexpectedly perfect – like moonlight, or the pure magic of the Fae. Applying white lipstick can be tricky, so I made sure my lips were well exfoliated and moisturized first. I used a lip liner in a similar light shade (or even a clear one) to create a crisp outline before carefully filling in with the white. It’s certainly a statement, but it perfectly completed the otherworldly vibe I was going for. Beyond the Day Court, the ACOTAR series offers so much inspiration for makeup enthusiasts. Imagine the dark, starry allure of the Night Court, which could inspire deep blues, purples, and glittery accents. Or the lush, floral beauty of the Spring Court, perfect for soft pastels and delicate shimmer. Even the fiery hues of the Autumn Court could spark a stunning red and orange smoky eye. Exploring these different courts through makeup is such a fun way to engage with the world Sarah J. Maas created. My biggest tip for anyone trying a bold ACOTAR-inspired look is to not be afraid to experiment. Makeup is all about creativity and self-expression. Don't worry about being a professional makeup artist; just have fun with it! Practice makes perfect, and often, the most unique looks come from playful experimentation. And remember, the magic is in how you feel wearing it. So go ahead, channel your inner Fae and let your creativity shine!
