My roots were growing in bad

I was getting annoyed with how long my roots were getting, so I decided that tonight was a good time to get them under control!

Tomorrow I will be putting my dark green dye on them so any unevenness will be covered up thankfully. I also did a bond treatment after shampooing tonight and will be sleeping with my curl tube to keep my hair relatively protected tonight!

... Read moreHey everyone! So glad you're following along on my hair journey! You saw my initial struggle with those 'bad roots' and then the big reveal of my freshly bleached, 'light yellow roots'. Many of you might be wondering, 'what color is this' at different stages of a hair transformation, and trust me, it's a whole process of color identification! Right now, my roots are that classic pale, 'light yellow' shade you aim for before applying a vibrant color. Getting to this specific yellow is crucial, especially when you're planning for a 'deep green' like I am. If your bleached hair still looks orange or too golden, it means you'd get a muddy green or a completely different shade, which is definitely not what I'm going for! That's why I took my time with the bleach, even though my roots ended up 'far from perfect' in some spots – a common battle for us DIYers! But knowing a deep green is going over it makes me feel a lot better. Choosing 'deep green' wasn't a random decision for me. I wanted something bold and unique, a shade that really pops. When you're deciding on a vivid color, think about your undertones and what colors complement your style. For example, a cool-toned green can look amazing on many, but if you have warm undertones, you might prefer a warmer, emerald green. It’s all about experimenting and finding what makes you feel fabulous. What color are your dream roots? Bleaching at home can be intimidating, but it's totally doable with the right precautions. My main goal was an even lift to that 'light yellow' stage. I sectioned my hair carefully and applied the bleach quickly but thoroughly. After shampooing, I immediately went in with a bond treatment. This step is a game-changer! Bleaching strips your hair, and bond treatments help rebuild those broken disulfide bonds, leaving your hair feeling much stronger and softer. It’s like giving your hair a protective shield before the next color adventure. I even slept with my curl tube to give my hair some extra protection and reduce friction – every little bit helps! Tomorrow, the real magic happens with the 'deep green' dye. To ensure an even application, I'll be making sure my hair is completely dry, and I'll section it again to get every strand. Applying vivid dyes can be messy, so old clothes and towels are a must! After rinsing, I'll use cold water to help seal the cuticle and lock in that gorgeous green color. Maintaining a vibrant color like 'deep green' is another journey in itself. I plan to use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners specifically designed for color-treated hair. Washing less frequently and using dry shampoo helps. Plus, cold water rinses are my secret weapon for keeping the color from fading too quickly. Touch-ups will be part of my routine, but for now, I'm just excited to see my roots transformed from 'bad' to beautiful, vibrant green! Hopefully, this gives you a better idea of the colors involved and the care needed for a stunning hair transformation!
