The Parenting Shift That Felt Wrong At First

One of the hardest parenting shifts

for cycle breakers

is allowing discomfort to exist.

Not neglect.

Not indifference.

Presence

without rescue.

Many of us grew up in environments

where discomfort meant danger.

So when our kids struggle

our nervous system says:

Fix it.

Solve it.

Prevent it.

But resilience develops

inside experiences.

Not outside them.

Children don’t need parents

who remove every hard moment.

They need parents

who remain steady

while the moment unfolds.

That steadiness

is what teaches their nervous system

that they can handle life.
