Your mother never taught you....
To every cycle breaker.
To every generational curse healer.
To every woman learning how to do things differently...
Remember this:
Your mother could only teach what she had been taught.
She loved from the level she had learned.
She passed down what was passed down to her.
That doesn't mean the pain wasn't real.
It doesn't mean the hurt didn't shape you.
But healing gives you a choice.
You can acknowledge what happened without carrying it forever.
You can honor your story without repeating it.
And when you're ready, you can choose forgiveness....not because what happened was okay, but because you deserve to be free.
The cycle can end with you. 🌻

Growing up, many of us inherit unspoken lessons from our mothers — lessons shaped by their own experiences and struggles. Often, these teachings center around sacrifice, endurance, and putting others' needs before our own. From personal experience, I realized that while these traits helped our families survive, they sometimes came at the cost of our own happiness and self-awareness. One thing my mother never taught me was how to truly love myself or recognize what brings me joy outside of caretaking roles. It took me years of self-reflection and intentional healing to realize that the patterns of putting myself last were passed down as survival tools, not as a blueprint for living fully. Healing means we get a choice: to honor the past without being chained by it. I began to practice self-compassion, recognizing that my mother's love was limited by her own upbringing but was still sincere. Forgiveness became my tool—not to condone the hurt but to release its hold on me. This journey also involved breaking cycles of childhood trauma and generational pain that I no longer wanted to carry forward. If you find yourself struggling to define what makes you happy or feeling lost in sacrifice, know that this is a sign to reconnect with yourself and explore your own needs and desires. Sometimes, learning to say no, setting boundaries, and prioritizing your mental health are the first acts of healing and cycle-breaking. Ultimately, breaking generational curses is a brave and personal journey. It’s about reclaiming freedom, rewriting your story, and recognizing the strength in choosing differently. The cycle can end with you, and that choice can lead to a life where self-love and true happiness flourish beyond the limitations taught to us by prior generations.
