Walking in Purpose

After sharing my initial 5 tips, I often get asked: "What happens after I start?" or "What if I'm still struggling to pinpoint my purpose?" It's a journey, not a destination, and I've learned that continuing your walk in purpose requires ongoing intention and resilience. Your purpose might not always be a grand, singular calling; sometimes it’s found in the small, consistent acts of kindness, creativity, or contribution that truly light you up. Deepening Your Self-Discovery While knowing yourself deeply is crucial, sometimes it feels like a fuzzy concept. If you're still unsure about your passions or strengths, try these practical steps. First, look back at your childhood. What did you love doing before societal expectations set in? Often, our earliest joys hold clues to our innate talents. Second, pay attention to what makes you angry or sad in the world – these emotions can point to causes you deeply care about and are meant to impact. Third, ask your closest friends and family what they perceive as your greatest strengths or unique contributions. Sometimes, others see our brilliance before we do! Engaging in small passion projects, even if they don't lead anywhere immediately, can also help you uncover hidden interests and skills that align with your true calling. Navigating the Winding Path Walking in your purpose isn't a straight line; there will be detours, roadblocks, and moments of doubt. I've certainly experienced them. To stay consistent and patient, as I mentioned in my tips, it's vital to develop resilience. When you feel off-track or overwhelmed, reconnect with your 'why.' Why did you embark on this journey? What vision keeps you going? Sometimes, that means simply taking a break, journaling through your feelings, or reaching out to your supportive community for encouragement. Breaking down your larger purpose into smaller, manageable goals can also prevent burnout. Celebrate every tiny step forward; those small victories build momentum and reinforce your commitment. Remember, your purpose is meant to serve you as much as it serves others, so nurture yourself through the process. The Evolving Nature of Purpose One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that purpose isn’t fixed. What resonates with you today might evolve over time, especially as you grow and experience new life stages. My purpose shifted significantly after having my son, as I shared. Be open to this evolution. Regularly check in with yourself: Does this still feel right? Am I still aligned? It's okay to pivot, refine, or even discover entirely new facets of your purpose. The core idea of walking in purpose is about living authentically and making intentional choices that reflect your truest self.
