Do you do this too?! 😂🤦🏾‍♀️🥰

Happy Wednesday Lemon8 folks 🥰

Random question:

How often do you look at your square when you are on a meeting ?

Or … Ooorrrr

Do you check how you look on cam before your meeting ?

I find myself doing this sometimes depending on the meeting I have to attend or if it’s a meeting with quite a few people.

One of the reasons is because I have RBF HARRRDDD. Not on purpose but if I’m zoned out, I have caught a glimpse of myself and I don’t look super friendly or sometimes I can’t control my facial expressions and I’m like ooopp 👀🫣 (it wasn’t me)

Anywho … I know I can’t be the only one that does this 👀👀👀😅🤭

... Read moreIn today's virtual world, video conferencing has become a fundamental part of our daily professional and personal interactions. Many people find themselves glancing at their own image before and during meetings to ensure they appear presentable. This phenomenon extends beyond mere vanity; it reflects our comfort in managing our own presence in digital spaces. The pressure to look professional has only intensified with the rise of remote work. According to a 2023 survey, 79% of remote workers admit to preparing their appearance before a video call. This trend includes adjusting lighting, background, and wardrobe choices to create a positive impression. Additionally, the concept of 'Resting Face' (the natural expression one has when not actively emoting) can create challenges; some individuals worry they may unintentionally appear disinterested or unapproachable. On platforms like Zoom, the self-view mirror can be both a helpful tool and a source of anxiety, leading to a phenomenon known as 'Zoom fatigue.' As we strive to present our best selves, the constant awareness of our appearance during virtual interactions can be tiring, prompting reflections on how we could reduce this pressure. Many experts suggest taking regular breaks, practicing mindfulness to reduce self-focus, and creating a comfortable meeting environment to enhance the overall video conferencing experience. Engaging in discussions about awkward moments and collective experiences—like those shared in this article—can foster a sense of community, reminding us we are not alone in our online meeting struggles.

I leave my camera off as much as possible. I am always doing something else during meetings and I don’t want people to see I’m really not paying attention. A lot of meetings could be emails. I have work to do lol
