Why is my relationship under ATTACK?? 😱
In premarital counseling, my partner and I have been studying the Bible and some accompanying Christian literature 🤔 I wanted to share a particular quote (perhaps the first of many!) from one of these books with you all:
“Satan is busily engaged in influencing those who are wholly unsuited to each other to unite their interests. He exults in this work, for by it he can produce more misery and hopeless woe to the human family than by exercising his skill in any other direction” Messages to Young People, 455.
Why does the enemy spend so much time attacking, bamboozling and destroying relationships and marriages? Because he knows that's the way he can make more people miserable than ANY OTHER WAY! 🤯 How evil is that?? Is it any wonder why people are giving up on the idea of true love and the very institution of marriage?
❗️But here’s the GOOD NEWS: If we flip that script, letting CHRIST lead in our relationships and marriages will make us happier than anything else! Simple as that. Even though the enemy will do everything in his power to throw us off course—especially for those of us who have already tied the knot—Jesus is still on the throne! 👑 And still ready to help us as soon as we allow Him to.
📖 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8
📖 “Plans are established by counsel; By wise counsel wage war.” Proverbs 20:8

It's so easy to feel overwhelmed when your relationship hits a rough patch, isn't it? I've been there, feeling like my bond was truly 'under attack,' just like that image of a distressed woman holding her head. It’s a common feeling when you face misunderstandings, outside pressures, or even just daily frustrations that seem to chip away at your connection. But what does it truly mean when we feel these spiritual battles influencing our relationships? The Bible verse from Psalm 32:8, 'I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you,' has become such a cornerstone for me. It’s not just a beautiful promise; it’s a living truth. When we're facing what feels like the 'devil attacking my relationship,' this verse reminds us that we're not alone. God isn't a distant observer; He actively desires to guide us, watching over us with a loving eye, wanting us to succeed. So, practically, how do we tap into this divine counsel, especially when things feel chaotic? For me, it starts with intentional prayer – not just asking for help, but truly listening. Sometimes, His counsel comes through a quiet conviction in my heart, guiding me to apologize first, or to choose patience over anger. Other times, it's through reading His Word, where I find principles that directly apply to my current struggles. It could even be through wise, godly counsel from trusted mentors or friends who speak truth into my life. I think about how the article mentions Satan influencing 'unsuitable unions' to cause 'misery and woe.' This highlights the importance of discernment, not just in choosing a partner, but in navigating the daily choices within a relationship. We need God's loving eye to help us see potential pitfalls, to understand our partner's needs, and to resist temptations that could drive us apart. When I've felt tempted to react impulsively or hold onto resentment, recalling His promise to counsel me helps me pause and seek His perspective. It's not always easy to discern His voice amidst the noise of our own emotions or the world's advice. But cultivating a daily habit of seeking Him – through quiet time, Bible study, and reflection – makes us more attuned to His guidance. This isn't about magical solutions; it's about building a foundation where Christ leads. When both partners are committed to seeking this divine counsel, the relationship transforms. It moves from being easily swayed by external attacks to becoming a steadfast fortress, rooted in God's wisdom and love. Remember, even when it feels like everything is falling apart, God's loving eye is on you. He is ready to instruct, teach, and counsel you through every challenge. Embrace His guidance, and watch as your relationship is not just protected, but strengthened in ways you never thought possible.

Also the reason the devil attacks marriages and anything that is leading to marriage is because it reflects the love story of Christ and His Bride the church. Both the gospel and book of Revelation reveal how Jesus refers to us as His bride and how we will be at His wedding banquet the day He returns for us🙏🏼
