Does Truth still matter? 🤔 I think so!
Hi Friends and Bible Study Buds! I wanted to update a previous study I made on the topic of Truth. So many people believe that truth is relative, and “I have my truth and you have yours”. So is it really surprising that there’s so much confusion, anxiety and anger in our society?
You probably know the story about the blind men and the elephant. Each of the blind men could only touch one part of the elephant, and they concluded that the whole elephant was wiry like a broom, or thick like a tree trunk, or flexible like a hose. But even though they all had their version of the truth, the ultimate Truth was that the elephant was a creature composed of all these different parts and more 🐘
Even though we may not see the whole picture, God sees the reality, the Truth of every situation. And it’s His desire that we come to love Truth and live in the freedom Truth brings. Truth hurts, but it also heals.

The biblical view that "God’s Word is Truth" provides a stable foundation amid shifting cultural narratives and conflicting opinions. One striking image that resonates deeply with me is the story of the blind men and the elephant. Each person perceives only a part of the whole truth, leading to incomplete or inaccurate conclusions. This analogy reminds me that personal experiences, perspectives, or "personal truths" need to be measured against something greater than ourselves to find true clarity. Personally, turning to Scripture has helped me see beyond subjective interpretations. Verses like John 14:6, where Jesus states, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," highlight that Truth is not merely an abstract concept but embodied in a person who lived authentically and perfectly. This personal aspect of truth encourages believers to seek understanding through the life and teachings of Jesus. Additionally, recognizing that "truth sets us free" (John 8:32) has had a profound impact on how I approach challenges and doubts. Truth may initially be uncomfortable or challenging, but it ultimately heals and liberates. It offers guidance like a light illuminating our path, helping us navigate through confusion and deception prevalent in society. Standing firm in truth also means courageously sharing and defending it in daily life. It calls for humility to acknowledge our limited understanding while actively pursuing deeper insight. In a world where "my truth" is often accepted alongside "your truth," reaffirming the existence of an absolute truth rooted in God’s Word becomes increasingly vital. For those curious or struggling with the concept of truth, I encourage you to explore the biblical foundations mentioned. Seek a personal relationship with Jesus, who is Truth personified, and experience the freedom and authenticity that comes from living in alignment with Him. Truth is not just a theory; it is a path to spiritual freedom and peace amidst the world’s complexities.
