First time making smash burgers and chips

This is the very first time that I have made and tried eating smash burgers and chips together. It was really good and it’s a easy recipe so save this post for later

Ingredients ground beef, turkey, cheese, buns, patties , seasoning such as salt , ground black pepper , lettuce, onions, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickles

Directions

Prep everything. Because these cook in minutes. Have your cheese sliced, buns toasted, and condiments ready before the meat hit the heat.

Heat the pan. Place your cast iron skillet or griddled over high heat until it’s ripping hot.

Smash. Place a loosely formed meatball in the center of the un~oiled pan. Place a square of parchment paper over it and press down firmly with your heavy spatula or burger press for about 5 to 10 seconds to create a very thin patty.

Season and sear. Sprinkle the top generously with salt and pepper. Let the patty cook undisturbed for 60 to 90 second’s until the edges are dark brown and crispy.

Scrape and Flip: Use a stiff metal spatula to carefully scape the patty off the pan ( make sure to get underneath the browned crust) and flip it,

Add cheese: immediately place a slice of cheese on the flipped patty. If you are making double cheeseburgers (recommend) place a second patty directly on top of the cheese.

Serve: Cook for another 30 to 45 seconds to melt the cheese and finish cooking the meat. Then transfer immediately to your toasted bun.

... Read moreMaking smash burgers and chips for the first time can be both exciting and rewarding. I found that prepping all the ingredients in advance really makes a difference since these patties cook so quickly. Using a cast iron skillet is key because it holds high heat well and helps form that irresistible crispy crust on the burger edges, which adds tremendous flavor and texture. One important tip I learned is to smash the patties firmly but not too thin—it’s all about balancing a thin crust with juicy meat inside. The parchment paper trick works great to prevent the meat from sticking to the spatula when pressing down. Seasoning generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper right after smashing locks in that savory taste. For the toppings, layering classic condiments like ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise along with fresh lettuce, onions, and pickles elevates the flavor profile. Also, toasting the buns beforehand helps hold the burger better and adds a nice crunch. Double cheeseburgers are a game-changer—placing a second patty on top of melted cheese creates a delicious molten center. As for the chips, homemade fries or store-bought options can both pair well with smash burgers. A sprinkle of seasoning or a side of ketchup complements the dish perfectly. Overall, this recipe is a quick and satisfying way to enjoy a restaurant-style burger experience right in your kitchen. I highly recommend trying it for your next meal, especially if you love juicy, crispy burgers with simple but flavorful ingredients.
