Best Photo Locations on Oahu, Hawaii

If you didn't take a picture..did it really happen?

These are my personal favorite picture perfect spots on the Island of O‘ahu. I was able to find these places on an Island Tour and at the AirBnb I was staying at.

First stop is Waimānalo Beach Park.

This location was so stunning with the palm trees and mountain backdrop. It is a bit windy so I'd recommend having your hair tied up.

Second stop is Makapuu Beach Park.

Fun fact, did you know that Hawaii's natural coastline is made of these black rocks due to lava flow? The soft sand we all love is actually imported from places like Australia!

Third stop, the most unexpected photo opp was located at the PESCA Waikiki Beach. The glass elevator ride up and down is breathtaking especially during sunrise and sunset.

... Read moreWhen people ask, 'what is the most popular beach in Hawaii?', Waikiki Beach often comes to mind immediately, and for good reason! While my article highlights some incredible photo ops, the area around PESCA Waikiki Beach, where I found one of my favorite unexpected spots, is truly the heart of Oahu's vibrant beach scene. This iconic destination isn't just famous for its stunning views and the potential to spot a vibrant rainbow arching over the ocean; it's a hub of activity. Beyond just capturing a beautiful sunset from a glass elevator, Waikiki offers a quintessential Hawaiian experience. You can learn to surf on its gentle waves, relax on the warm sandy beach, or stroll along Kalakaua Avenue, soaking in the energy. There are countless shops, restaurants, and hotels lining its shores, making it a bustling and accessible spot for travelers seeking convenience and classic Hawaiian fun. The nearby marina filled with boats adds to the lively atmosphere, offering options for cruises and water sports. Moving away from the bustling city, Waimānalo Beach Park, another one of my top photo locations, holds a different kind of popularity. While not as universally known as Waikiki, it's a beloved spot for locals and those seeking a more serene experience. Its popularity stems from its breathtaking natural beauty: the long stretch of soft sand, framed by lush palm trees, with the majestic Koolau Mountains serving as a dramatic backdrop. The turquoise ocean here is simply mesmerizing. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk, a family picnic, or simply unwinding away from the crowds. It’s also often voted one of Oahu's most beautiful beaches, earning its own special place in visitors' hearts. Makapu'u Beach Park, with its unique dark volcanic rock coastline and powerful crashing waves, attracts visitors for its dramatic natural landscape and excellent bodyboarding conditions. It's popular for those who appreciate rugged beauty over calm swimming waters. The stunning views from the nearby lighthouse trail, overlooking the dark volcanic rock coastline and the green hills, are truly unforgettable and offer a different perspective of Oahu's diverse shoreline. Even though the soft sandy beach here might be smaller, the sheer power of the ocean and the raw beauty of the lava formations make it a compelling and popular stop for many exploring the island's eastern side. Each of these spots, while different, contributes to Oahu's reputation as a paradise for beach lovers, offering a range of experiences from lively urban shores to tranquil, scenic havens.
