Sigh.

This tiny baby was picked up off the side of the road yesterday afternoon by a kind person. She said she thought she saw a kitten so she looped around and yep, it was a baby. She got out and this poor thing was so happy to see someone that she started army crawling towards her because her rear ended isn’t working right. She is is very broken. Her back leg is just hanging there, she can’t move it or feel it. Same with her tail but I don’t think she’s in any pain which is concerning. She is eating and drinking but I’ve not seen her use the box yet. She will also be going to the clinic with me tomorrow to be looked at. I suspect she fell from a car and if Rachel had not seen her and picked her up, she would not have survived the night. She is a little doll but I fear her injuries are significant. Hold a good thought for this precious baby.

... Read moreFinding an injured kitten like this one is heartbreaking yet highlights the importance of community awareness and quick action. Many kittens suffer accidents such as falls from vehicles, which can lead to severe trauma including paralysis or nerve damage as seen with this little one’s rear leg and tail. It’s encouraging that despite her immobility, she isn’t showing signs of pain and continues to eat and drink, indicating a resilient spirit. If you ever come across a seemingly abandoned or injured kitten, it’s vital to approach gently and try to minimize movement until veterinary care is available. Early intervention can dramatically improve outcomes. Veterinary clinics can provide diagnostics such as X-rays and neurological assessments to fully understand the extent of injuries. Long-term care for such kittens may involve physical therapy, pain management, and sometimes adaptations like special litter boxes or mobility aids. Rescue groups play a crucial role in providing shelter and nurturing these vulnerable animals back to health. Sharing stories like this raises awareness about the plight of stray and injured kittens, encouraging more people to look out for and support animal rescue efforts. As someone who has volunteered with animal shelters, I can attest to how hope, kindness, and expert care can change a fragile life into one full of promise. Let’s keep this brave little kitten in our thoughts and spread the word about how we can all help the voiceless.
