Milo the ch kitty
Milo the ch kitty had his dental Friday. He had 3 extractions and has a nasty ulcer on his tongue. He was a brave boy even though he was very scared. I had to hold him for his sedation because he’s definitely a country boy come to town and a mama’s boy. He got a convenia injection and a pain injection. I hope his poor tongue heals quickly but for now he’s enjoying the canned food. Thank you everyone for your support!
Having supported Milo through his dental procedure, I’ve learned how vital proper post-operative care is for a cat’s recovery. Dental issues in cats, such as those Milo faced with multiple tooth extractions and a tongue ulcer, require gentle handling and close attention. After surgery, it’s crucial to keep your cat in a quiet, warm environment to minimize stress and encourage healing. I used a soft, confined space for Milo, ensuring he wasn’t tempted to jump or run around too soon. Feeding canned or softened food, as Milo is doing now, really helps since hard kibble can irritate healing gums and tongue ulcers. I also found that small, frequent meals can be easier for cats recovering from dental work. The convenience of pain relief injections like the convenia Milo received offers excellent support, reducing discomfort and preventing infection. It’s important to watch your cat closely for any signs of decreased appetite, lethargy, or vomiting, which might indicate complications. Throughout Milo's recovery, maintaining a calm and supportive presence seemed to ease his anxiety—he is, after all, a country boy adjusting to town life and very much a mama’s boy. This experience taught me how much our feline friends rely on gentle care and the right veterinary guidance to bounce back. For cat owners facing similar situations, consider consulting your vet about preventative dental kits that include toothbrushes and treat options to maintain oral health after surgery. In the end, ensuring your cat’s comfort and health post-dental procedure makes all the difference in their journey back to playful, happy days.
