curly headed girls,,,, I NEED HELP!!!!
okay yall so i have had this very pretty, spiral curls since middle school. i have a unique hair journey 😅. pretty much i straightened and fried my hair so bad all thru middle school and the summer before high school i decided i wanted to cut it all off and start fresh. i cut it SUPER short & went home and washed it and VOLILA, shirley temple curls. over the years of growing out my hair my curls have lost a little shape but not much. the first picture is my wedding in august of 21’. the sticker is just yesterday.. now it’s lost a noticeable amount of shape. you can see my pattern is not as defined and frizzy. you can even see the difference in my pony tail.. it makes me so sad and want to cry when i see my hair now. it’s so long and healthy but it’s just not curly like it used to be.
it got like this from pretty much neglecting it and not washing like i’m supposed to and just throwing it up in a bun so i feel like i straightened it out when putting up in a bun.. sooooo with all that being said, if you’re still reading lol, PLEASE help me. i need advice on how to get my curls back yall!!!! i’ve tried cutting it short and it didn’t work. do i need a hot oil treatment? and certain products that’s worked for defining them? ANYTHING helps. my hair is pretty dryish along with my scalp so anything hydrating is a bonus. 🥳🥳
Curly hair often requires special attention and care to maintain its natural beauty. Many factors, such as heat damage, product buildup, and lack of proper moisture, can affect curl definition. To get started on your journey to healthier curls, consider implementing a routine that includes hydration and gentle care. 1. **Hydrating Wash**: Use a sulfate-free shampoo that retains moisture. Follow with a rich, moisturizing conditioner for improved softness. 2. **Deep Conditioning**: Incorporate a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. Look for ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, and argan oil that help reconstruct and nourish your curls. 3. **Shrinkage vs. Frizz**: Understand the difference between shrinkage (healthy curls' tendency to coil and appear shorter) and frizz (unwanted puffiness). Appropriate styling techniques and products can help manage both. 4. **Styling Techniques**: Experiment with different styling methods, such as the “praying hands” technique or scrunching, to encourage ringlet formation. Avoid rough towel drying and instead opt for a microfiber towel or t-shirt to cut down on frizz. 5. **Product Choices**: Use curl-defining products that hold moisture while allowing for movement. Look for gels and creams formulated specifically for curly hair. 6. **Scalp Health**: A healthy scalp is crucial for healthy hair growth. Consider using scalp treatments and oils to promote circulation and hydration. 7. **Protective Styles**: During periods of dryness or damage, protective hairstyles can shield your hair from breakage and promote repair. By integrating these practices into your hair care routine, you can nurture your curls back to their former glory, encouraging vibrancy and definition once again.

Omg my hair used to be the same way except it was severely heat damaged but here’s some ways I managed to restore my curls! I wash my hair at least once a way bc I use a lot of product to style my curls. When I wash I use a clarifying rinse to remove build up, shampoo, deep conditioner, and then normal conditioner. 1/2
