going to JB to hike: Pulai Quarry
recently made a trip into jb to embark on a mini hike at pulai quarry and wanted to share the experience!
took a grab to Taman Awam BBKP and stopped at the carpark where the trail starts. there are supposedly 2 routes you can take up but my friend and i chose the more intense short route that took us just about 15 minutes to get up. 💨 the intensity mostly comes from the fact that the paths are not well paved and you need a rope to help you out at certain vertical portions but with all the ropes in place, it was relatively easy-moderate. 🌳🥾
just be aware, there are A LOT of insects around, which you can probably imagine… but because the roads aren’t paved well, and you’re holding on to ropes that lay on the ground and trees for support, you can get a little bit more up close and personal with the insects. nevertheless, i think that the length of the hike is just nice and the view at the top of the Pulai Quarry is gorgeous. 💓
unfortunately, we didn’t manage to find the way to go down from the other longer route and got a little bit lost while wandering about. but in the process, we did chance upon another really nice rock area and proceeded to turn back to go down from the route we originally came up from. 🪨
i pre-booked a grab back to the city area just in case we had trouble finding one and i highly recommend doing this because the fare was a lot cheaper too. just make sure you time it well so you have ample time to hike because we did have to rush down after getting lost. 😅
anyway, try this out the next time you go into jb— i hope you have a whale of a time hiking like i did! ❤️

For those interested in exploring beyond the usual path, the longer route at Pulai Quarry offers a different experience, though it's easy to get a bit lost without proper guidance. During my hike, my friend and I lost our way but discovered a beautiful rock formation that wasn’t on the usual trail, adding an unexpected twist to our adventure. If you're planning a visit, be prepared for the terrain — the trails are uneven and sometimes steep, requiring you to use ropes for support. Wearing sturdy hiking boots is a must, and insect repellent will help make your hike more comfortable, especially since the environment is home to many insects. Timing your hike is also important. Pre-booking transportation back to the city, like a Grab, can save you money and stress. It's wise to allocate extra time in your schedule to enjoy the hike and avoid rushing, especially if you veer off the beaten path like we did. Overall, Pulai Quarry offers a rewarding outdoor experience with beautiful views for those looking for a quick yet adventurous hike in JB. Whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a refreshing escape, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

hii may i check how long should you cater in roughly to book grab back?
