Now that I’m happily engaged, I can laugh about this… but back then this situation almost sent me over the edge.
This happened years before I met my fiancé, but thinking about it now still blows my mind.
So boom.
I used to date this guy who everybody thought was the perfect boyfriend.
Always calling me beautiful. Always saying he didn’t deal with drama. Always telling me how loyal he was.
Whole time… that man was living a double life.
One night he invited me over for dinner.
Candles lit. Music playing. Food on the table like he was trying to impress me.
Everything felt normal.
Until his phone kept buzzing.
He kept flipping it over every time it lit up.
I didn’t say anything at first because I’m not the type to go digging through phones.
But then the phone rang again… and this time the name on the screen caught my eye.
It said:
“Cuz ❤️”
Now I thought that was weird, but I brushed it off.
Then about ten minutes later there was a hard knock at the door.
I mean somebody was knocking like they were mad.
He froze.
Like completely froze.
I asked him,
“Who is that?”
He looked nervous and said,
“Probably just my neighbor.”
But the knocking got louder.
Then I heard a woman’s voice yell from outside:
“OPEN THE DOOR. I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE.”
My stomach dropped.
He finally opens the door…
And when the girl walked in the house my heart literally stopped.
Because standing in the doorway…
Was my cousin.
And the first thing she said when she saw me sitting on the couch was:
“Wait… why are YOU here?”
That’s when I realized something was very, very wrong.
Because the look on both of their faces told me the same thing.
Neither one of them expected us to be there at the same time.
What happened in the next 10 minutes was so messy I still can’t believe it.
