Let’s get this out to EVERYONE who may be affected
STAY SAFE!
Preparing for winter storms and power outages can feel overwhelming, but having a clear plan makes all the difference. From personal experience, I’ve found that creating a dedicated emergency kit is fundamental. This kit should include non-perishable food, bottled water, extra batteries, medications, a flashlight, and a battery-powered or hand-crank NOAA Weather Radio to stay updated when the power is out. Additionally, it’s important to dress in layers and have plenty of warm blankets and winter clothing ready. Make sure your phones and power banks are fully charged before the storm arrives to maintain necessary communication. Fueling your car and having emergency car supplies such as blankets, a small shovel, and traction mats can be crucial if you need to travel or get stranded. One practical tip is to arrange a backup heat source, such as a wood stove or portable heater, but ensure it’s safely ventilated to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Lastly, stay informed by monitoring weather reports regularly and shelter in place as recommended by authorities. These proactive steps not only provide physical safety but also peace of mind through uncertain weather conditions.
