"Poland" seized 1.2 tons of "marijuana" directly from "Thailand," a container containing bricks, sent through the port of Hamburg in Germany to a Polish destination worth more than $450 million.
Poland's TVP World news agency reported that Polish authorities sealed with German authorities to break down a multinational drug smuggling network, which was able to seize nearly 1.2 tons of marijuana, worth about 12 million euros (about 450 million baht), with all the marijuana shipped from Thailand through the port of Hamburg in Germany, with Poland as its last distribution destination.
Criminal groups have used the practice of hiding marijuana in containers containing bricks to smack the authorities in the eye and rely on loopholes from commercial shipping to make it seem legal.
This seizure reflects that criminal networks are increasingly taking advantage of commercial shipping routes and international supply chains to smuggle illegal goods, according to the report.
In this operation, there were eight suspects in custody, six of whom remained under control pending trial, while officials stated that the investigation was continuing in an intensive manner to expand the network's administrative structure, as well as other contributors who may have been involved in transporting drugs across the border.
